AIA Awards - 2016
On Friday June 3,2016, nearly 70 of the most influential architectural minds on the Central Coast came together for the AIA California Central Coast Design Awards. It was a hot day in San Luis Obispo, but that didn't stop people from getting together for this outstanding event, highlighting the skills, talents and creative spirit of local architects, which included more than 35 entries in an event that only comes around once every couple of years.
The event was more than just an awards ceremony, it was a time for architects, design engineers, consultants, builders and other support teams to come together and recognize their achievements within the local community. This tight knit group of professionals demonstrated their support for each other and felt the cohesiveness that results from being part of something special on the Central Coast of California.
Entries included designs from large architectural firms like RRM Design Group and Ten Over Studio as well as small firms such as Garcia Architecture & Design and Tom DiSanto's M:OEM.
The judges included the world famous Paul Murdoch from Los Angeles who designed the Beayul Dewaling Center For Gross National Happiness in Bhutan as well as the founder of the Business of Architecture™, Enoch Barlett Sears from Visalia.
We'll highlight some of the other winners and honorable mentions in subsequent posts, however, I won't leave you hanging on the grand prize winner.... and the winner is...
1st Place: Goyette Residence & Photography Studio
Congratulations to Tom DiSanto of M:OEM for an outstanding job!
